Making Friends To Make Disciples | LG Guide April 2026
“I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings.”
(1 Corinthians 9:22-23 ESV)
1.Look for who God’s placed around you.
Get around people in the community.
Look for people who need connection in the church.
2.Become genuinely interested in them. Make them feel important.
Ask questions about themselves. (How? What?)
What do you do for work? How did you get into that field?
How did you and your spouse meet?
What do you do for a hobby? How did you get into that?
How many kids do you have? Tell me about your family.
Be a good listener; encourage them to talk about themselves.
Take an interest in what they do and care about.
3.Remember names and details and ask follow-up questions in the future.
“How was your daughter Mia’s tournament last month?”
“How did that thing at work go? I remember you were stressed about that.”
4.Look for reasons and opportunities to connect.
Connect over hobbies.
Set up get-togethers for the kids
Help them move, etc.
5.Listen for and minister to their pain.
6.Look for opportunities to pray for them and share the gospel.
